Taliban not against women in politics: Shinwari

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Taliban assured participants of a two-day informal meeting in Qatar that they were not against women’s participation in politics, an Afghan delegation member said on Monday.
The two days of informal talks on Saturday and Sunday were organized in Doha by a Canada-based organization, Pushwag Council that works for solution to international conflicts.
An eight-member Taliban delegation and a 20-member Afghan government delegation took part in the research conference titled “Afghan dialogue” aiming at ending the long-running conflict in Afghanistan.

Govt-Taliban differences not irresolvable: Mujahid

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The top peace negotiator on Thursday said the unity government would start taking fundamental steps toward reviving the peace parlays soon after completing the cabinet.
Maulvi Abdul Hakim Mujahid, the High Peace Council (HPC) acting head, told Pajhwok Afghan News in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, that President Ashraf Ghani had engaged in the peace process countries who wanted peace for their economic benefits in the region.

HPC useless in current circumstances: deputy CEO

KABUL (Pajhwok): The first deputy chief executive officer on Saturday said there was no need for the High Peace Council (HPC) in the current circumstances.
Eng. Mohammad Khan said the HPC, a government body tasked with negotiating peace with insurgents, had done nothing since the formation of the unity government six months ago.
He said the body had not been involved in the ongoing peace efforts nor it was aware about details from the latest contacts in this regard.

Mutasim supports govt-Taliban peace negotiations

KABUL (Pajhwok): A veteran leader and former finance minister during the Taliban regime announced on Monday support for the Afghan government-Taliban talks and efforts aimed at bringing tranquilly to the war-torn country.
Talking to Pajhwok Afghan News, Agha Jan Mutasim urged the government of President Ashraf Ghani and militant leaders to sit across the negotiating table and sort out their differences because fighting would not lead to any settlement.
