Gulzada ready for talks with Taliban’s women

ZARANJ (Pajhwok): A 52-year-old resident who has resolved more than 600 disputes in Nimroz province in the past 20 years says, if given the opportunity, she will talk to female rebels in insurgent-controlled areas.

Through negotiations with women militants, she wants to encourage their men renounce the insurgency and embrace peace.

Shah Gul Gulzada, a resident of Zaranj, the provincial capital, before studying midwifery, graduated from the 12th grade.

PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): A woman who lost her leg in a suicide bombing in northern Baghlanb province says she has been struggling with huge problems since her disability and sees peace the only solution to all her pains.
Raqiba, 43, is a resident of Baghlan province, who was disabled on her leg in a suicide bomb blast in 2007 in Baghlan-i-Markazi district of the province.
The attack, which targeted members of the Economy Commission of the Wolesi Jirga, killed six lawmakers and several children and civilians. A large number of other people were injured in the incident.

KABUL (Pajhwok): Poet and writer Gul Agha Ahmadi Wardak, who through his writing has been working for peace since years, says the people of Afghanistan demand peace in their prayers in the hope that their yearnings will bear fruit and God will accept their prayers.

Born in 1966 in the Guldara village of Jaghato district in Maidan Wardak province, Ahmadi is currently living in capital Kabul with his family.

Known for his peace poems, Ahmadi who holds a master’s degree, has served in different government institutions at different capacity.

MAZARI-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The killing of a prosecutor in a suicide attack on the attorney office in northern Balkh province has negatively affected his family, his son complains.

On April 9, 2015, a group of suicide bombers attacked the office of appellant court prosecutor, killing 18 people and injured 67 others. A seven hours clash followed.

The 70 years old Abdul Khaliq Lalpurwal, ex-head of the attorney office, was one of the killed people in the brazen attack.

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Shugofa, one of the war victims, is living in a stable. She says has no option but to beg for alms and complains some men sometimes make illegal demands on her, which makes her life more miserable.

The 36-year-old is originally from Sheram locality on the outskirts of Sar-i-Pul City, the capital of northern Sar-i-Pul province. She traveled to Jawzjan after insurgents gunned down her husband over his alleged role in spying for government.

KABUL (Pajhwok): Peace talks with the Taliban will end up in smoke if the Afghans themselves do not define their national interest, a presidential advisor and member of the government’s negotiating team warned on Monday.
In an exclusive interview with Pajhwok Afghan News, Haji Din Mohammad, who has actively pursued reconciliation efforts over the years, said the peace process had been a complicated issue with several dimensions.

Interim govt setup discussed in Qatar talks: HIA

KABUL (Pajhwok): The delegates discussed an interim government setup in Afghanistan during the two-day talks between Afghan officials and Taliban in Qatar, a representative from Gulbadin Hikmatyar-led Hizb-e-Islami (HIA) who attended the meeting said on Thursday.
Pugwash, a Canadian based organization, organized a seminar in Qatar in which a twenty-member Afghan delegation discussed peace process in Afghanistan with an eight-member Taliban delegation.
